Current Digital Video Trends

Videos have become a necessity in the age of remote viewing. Not long ago, they were more of a luxury. It’s important to stay relevant whilst still creating important content. In discussion with Sam Jeacle from Rawpro, these are current trends to consider in 2022.
Short and Concise Videos
With TikTok overtaking YouTube in average watch time, it’s no surprise that shorter videos are becoming a preference. Sam says it’s important they work on multiple platforms. “With real estate, we used to make heaps of property videos that were cut up and spliced together with music, but now we are getting more people wanting the long shot of a walk-through, so it’s more all in one shot. People are also getting into the shorter, bite-size videos, so nothing over 60 seconds,” Sam tells us.
Post On Socials
“We find that when people reach out to the agent, they quite often reference the video because the videos can show a property in a way photos can’t. Videos capture the lifestyle and area rather than just the structure, you can showcase local shops, get kids involved, and local parks. It’s a great way to draw the emotional connection so people can actually see themselves living that lifestyle,” Sam says. This is why having property videos on a listing and across social media results can help result in more engagement. Be sure to post on all your social platforms andif needed, adjust them according to the platform sizing.
Regularly Post
Statistically, it takes someone six to eight touchpoints with a brand before they feel comfortable engaging with it. The more you can get yourself out there, the better the result will be. “If you aren’t out there regularly posting, then you’re not the one that people are seeing – someone else will be. In regards to the algorithm, whoever is getting the most traction will be the ones getting all the engagement.”
Content Shoots
A way to ensure you maintain regular posts is a content shoot. The best way to prepare for a content shoot is with a well put-together brief. “Everything needs to be ready to go. Everyone involved in the shoot needs to be aware of what is going on and prepare for it. For example, if you’re shooting a property video at someone’s home, you want to make sure it’s styled, clean, and ready to shoot. If the agent has any dialogue, make sure they come prepared and ideally practice a bit. It might sound silly, but it’s a visual medium so preparation is key.”
Raw Pro is a leading boutique content and advertising agency based in Canberra. Sam loves working alongside the real estate industry because they can really appreciate a luxe house. There’s more opportunity for them to involve other elements that can make a video more upscale and ‘spicer’.
