BresicWhitney Lower North Shore: Blending Heritage With Modernity

Will Gosse
Chief Operating Officer at BresicWhitney
When we decided to expand BresicWhitney into the Lower North Shore, it wasn’t merely about opening another office. It was a continuation of our broader mission to be Sydney’s leading property group. This idea was sparked by the success of our previous offices and the realisation that our clientbase naturally extends beyond singular suburbs, moving across regions. It felt like a very natural opportunity to go where our clients go. Our broader mission at BresicWhitney is to be Sydney’s leading property group, and this includes having a presence on the North Shore.
In the real estate industry, leadership is often measured by the number of transactions or market share. For us, leading encompasses much more. Of course, market share and transactional presence are core components, but we also aim to be the leading brand in the market, offering the best experiences for our employees, from inspiring office environments to meaningful growth and development opportunities. Additionally, leading means having a strong voice in the industry, sharing what we’re doing and why, and being recognised as a thought leader.

Our focus on space is a large consideration. At our Inner East office, we knew from the start that a timeless and long-term design was crucial. It’s not about what’s going to look great on social media or impress visitors – it’s about what will work for 10, 15, 20 years. The investment in space must be for longevity and more than just a facade.
A fun aspect of our design philosophy is creating spaces that make people question if they’re in the right place, sparking conversations and encouraging people to think differently about real estate. This approach led us to our new Lower North Shore space, in Mosman.

Mosman is a wonderful village, and Anzac Hall, right in the middle, is a very striking building. We’re excited to bring new life to it. Our office will be in a part of the building that used to serve as a recreation hall for soldiers returning from World War II. By researching archival photos from the day it opened, we aim to respect its history while creating a space that engages the community.

Moving into a new market naturally invites skepticism from competitors. However, with 21 years of experience, we believe establishing ourselves in a prominent location like Anzac Hall underpins our brand’s credibility and longevity, while reflecting our values. An inconspicuous office wouldn’t have the same impact.
Engaging with the community through art is another exciting opportunity. As seen in our Inner East office, we maintain a strong art collection and plan to expand it to include elements from Mosman and the Lower North Shore. Mosman has a rich artistic history, exemplified by the Mosman Art Prize.

Our message is clear: we are here, and passionate about building a legacy that delivers results and opportunities for our people, our clients and the local communities.
Ben Mitchell, the Sydney director of Those Architects, the firm behind our Lower North Shore office, is a Mosman local whose design principles align with our brand. We appreciated his fresh perspective, having not worked in real estate before and their commitment and experience in creating beautiful spaces that honour and speak to their surroundings. His sensitivity to the heritage of the space has been crucial in our design process, ensuring we preserve the building’s significant features, such as its nearly 100-year-old ceiling. This is just one of the facets that we’re proud to have given much thought and consideration to, and how we write the new chapter for the space.
