AREC2024: What We’re Thinking about Two Months On
12 July 2024

Written by Acme Mag
AREC made its return back in May and with its biggest year to date, the Acme team were inundated with tips, tricks, and life lessons to apply to both our work and personal lives. It didn’t matter whether you were in sales, property management or market – there were takeaways to help shape you approach your career. By hearing from names such as Gavin Rubeinstein, Mat Steinwede and even Ryan Reynolds – you couldn’t come back to your day-to-day job without feeling motivated.

Thoughts from Mat Steinwede
Mat Steinwede, #1 Agent in the McGrath network, made it clear that his consistency remains the same, and that’s what business is all about.
His tactics are all around building relationships, prospecting and marketing. It might sound simple, but doing things simply helps create success. “Saturation is the key to getting known in a marketplace,” says Mat. He emphasised the importance of being consistent in your discipline. How does Mat stay in the zone? Three key habits:
- A morning take off routine
- High energy gut health
- Evening landing routine
Thoughts from Mark Bouris
It’s not just about hitting your work KPI’s, but creating a system to hit your mental and physical KPI’s. Even Mark Bouris, the Executive Chairman of Yellow Brick Road Home Loans emphasises mindset and structure.
“I can’t operate properly in a winning mindset unless I do the following: sleep strategy, exercise, nutritional regime, meditation – think about the daily wins (and bank them),” says Mark.
Consider what you should take out of your routine that stops you maintaining structure.

Thoughts from Gavin Rubenstein
Acing the basics means you can hit the ground running in all aspects of your career. Consistency means being strategic – and Gavin Rubinstein from Luxe Listings and The Rubeinstein Group knows this best.
“Profile is my edge, it’s the single most important thing to stand out and the objective is to go from being the one who does the prospecting to becoming the one who is prospected. That means profile is a business plan, it’s strategic and consistent action,” says Gavin.
Put it this way (or the way Gavin did), water cuts through rock because of consistency not power. Once he gets results, he amplifies them. It used to be facebook, signboards, newspapers, and DLs, making sure his marketing would find you where you were. Now the tacts have shifted to videos and Instagram but the strategy remains the same. You’ll need to find your edge, but what can you do to keep it sharp? This will help you stand out in your market. It’s clear from Gavin that consistency is a part of your brand.

Thoughts from Ryan Sehant
Ryan Sehant of Million Dollar Listing’s New York put a large emphasis on his personal brand allowing him to succeed. It’s more than visuals but the way you show up every day. This includes in person when you meet with clients, how you are in your property videos, how you are on social media. This creates authenticity, where what people see in digital feels consistent with how you show up in real life. From here, you need to amplify your brand or as Ryan calls it, ‘“shouting from the mountaintop”. This doesn’t mean it’s easy – Ryan pitched 37 times before ‘Sell it like Serhant’ was picked up by Bravo.
Thoughts from Dib Chidiac
Dib Chidiac, a Sydney Inner West Specialist, says consistency comes from the power of goals. If you’re struggling to get started, get disciplined with yourself and remember, there’s always opportunity to learn and continue to grow. Be competitive with yourself or whatever works to make sure you’re doing that extra one percent.
